October in Morgantown is gorgeous and cold. It is also when grips quit.
Tape stiffens in the cold and cracks. Rubber loses its tack. You hold the club harder, which tightens your forearms and ruins your tempo.
A quick test
Press your thumbnail into the grip. If it does not leave a mark, the rubber is hard. If it feels slick when you hold it, the tack is gone.
A regrip takes an hour. Come in before the last rounds of the season.
